AKO Instant Messenger: Exporting your contacts.

Below are text instructions to export/import AKO instant messenger contacts.

Before your AKO name change is completed, you will need to export your contacts and save them to your computer. Then after your name change is completed, you can import them into your new instant messenger profile.

To export the IM contacts:

  1. Launch the portal IM client
    1. Click IM in the upper right, Select ‘Launch AKO IM’
  2. When the IM page loads, right-click on your contact list and select ‘Export Contacts’
    1. The export process may take several minutes
  3. Save the file to your computer.
    1. The default title is Contacts.csv

To import the IM contacts:

  1. Launch the portal IM client
    1. Click IM in the upper right, Select ‘Launch AKO IM’
  2. When the IM page loads, click the add contact button (+), then click Import Contacts
  3. Click the Browse button and select the exported file (Contacts.csv) then click Import Contacts.

NOTE: These steps have been verified to work on an unmodified AGM 9 image.

If your organization has modified security settings, you may encounter issues using Internet Explorer.

If you receive ‘502 Proxy Error’:

  1. Log out of AKO, clear your browser cache, then close and relaunch Internet Explorer.
  2. Log in to AKO and follow the export steps above.

*You may need to do this several times in order to release the current session and start a new one.

If you are not prompted to save the file:

  1. Go to Tools > Internet Options
  2. Click the Advanced tab and uncheck ‘Do not save encrypted pages to disk’.
  3. Click the Security tab > Trusted Sites
  4. Click Custom Level then scroll to Downloads and click Enable under ‘Automatic prompting for file downloads’
